In the summer of 2006, I quit my job and travelled through Germany and France for 2 weeks with my friend, Ronny. We rented bicycles and traveled to small villages outside of cities and into the Black Forest. In Europe, bicyclist have the right of way. We were never concerned that we were going to get run over.
We got lost riding outside of Frieburg, Germany. We rode for seven hours that day. Most of the time we were trying to figure out how to get back to Frieburg. When it was certain that we were lost, I convinced Ronny to finally stop someone and ask him how to get back to Frieburg. We were going in the exact opposite direction that we should have been going.
The signs in the German countryside are not good navigators.
